Wedding Signature Cocktails: How to Choose Yours

A signature cocktail is one of the easiest ways to make a wedding feel personal — a drink that captures your story, sets the tone of the day and gives your guests something to remember. Here's how to pick yours.

1. Start with your story

The best signature cocktails feel personal. Think about where you met, your favourite trips together, the drink you always order on date night, or a spirit tied to your family or heritage. A couple who honeymooned in Italy might lean toward a bright Negroni or Aperol-forward sour; a Scottish–Mexican pairing could land beautifully on a smoky Margarita or whisky Old Fashioned.

2. Offer two cocktails, not one

We recommend two signature serves — one for each partner. It gives guests a choice, balances the bar, and looks stunning on a printed menu. A good rule of thumb: pair one spirit-forward drink (Espresso Martini, Old Fashioned, Negroni) with one lighter, refreshing option (Passionfruit Martini, Paloma Sour, Bramble, French Martini).

3. Consider your guests

Your favourite mezcal Negroni might not land with a room full of wine drinkers. Signature cocktails should feel approachable — think crowd-pleasers with a personal twist. Avoid anything too challenging (heavy amaros, ultra-smoky mezcal, very sweet liqueur-heavy builds). If in doubt, choose flavours most people already love: citrus, berries, vanilla, coffee, passionfruit.

4. Match the season

  • Spring: Rhubarb Gin Sour, Strawberry Daiquiri, French Martini.
  • Summer: Passionfruit Martini, Watermelon Margarita, Bramble, Mojito Sour.
  • Autumn: Espresso Martini, Whisky Sour, Spiced Apple Old Fashioned.
  • Winter: Cosmopolitan, Espresso Martini, Cranberry Bramble, Mulled Negroni.

5. Think about colour

Signature cocktails photograph beautifully — and colour matters. A Passionfruit Martini's deep coral, a Cosmo's pink blush, or the velvety black of an Espresso Martini all pop on film. Try to pick cocktails whose palette complements your florals and table styling rather than fighting them.

6. Make it easy to serve

The prettiest cocktail in the world doesn't work at scale if it takes four minutes to build per glass. This is exactly why our signature serves are pre-batched — poured into 750ml bottles, six perfectly balanced cocktails per bottle, ready to serve over ice on the day. No queue at the bar, no compromise on quality.

7. How much do you need?

A good rule of thumb: assume 2–3 signature cocktails per guest across the drinks reception and evening. For 80 guests choosing between two signature serves, that's roughly 25–30 bottles — plenty for everyone to try both without running dry before the speeches.
