First Toast Cocktails: complete site overview

This page is a single plain summary of the whole business, written so a person or an AI assistant can understand the full offer without navigating the site. Last reviewed by the owner. Contact: cocktails@firsttoast.co.uk.

Who we are

First Toast Cocktails makes fresh bottled cocktails by hand in small batches in Ayr, Ayrshire, Scotland. The business is run by Jax, who has close to thirty years in hospitality. Everything is made to order for the date it is going out on. Website: https://firsttoast.co.uk. Email: cocktails@firsttoast.co.uk.

Areas served

Ayr, Prestwick, Troon, Irvine, Kilmarnock, Girvan and the rest of Ayrshire. Glasgow, Renfrewshire and Lanarkshire. Stirling, Edinburgh and the rest of central Scotland. Further afield is possible, usually with a travel contribution.

The product

Fresh bottled cocktails in 750ml bottles. One bottle serves six cocktails at a standard measure. Each batch is made to order for the date of the event, using real juice and proper spirits. Nothing is pasteurised or preserved, so shelf life is short and bottles are made close to the date rather than stored.

The cocktail range

Espresso Martini, Pornstar Martini, Margarita, Strawberry Daiquiri, Cosmopolitan, Bramble, Lemon Bon Bon, Banana Mama, Pina Colada, Clover Club, Jungle Bird, Chocolate Martini and Apple Martini. Nothing carbonated. The full menu with ABV, allergens and glassware is at https://firsttoast.co.uk/cocktails.

Alcohol-free options

Anything built on gin, vodka, rum or tequila can be made to the exact same recipe using a 0% spirit, so alcohol-free guests get the same drink rather than a soft drink. Allergies are handled on request and full ingredient lists are confirmed at booking. All drinks are for those aged 18 and over.

Section one: for venues

For licensed venues, hotels, wedding venues and restaurants. Page: https://firsttoast.co.uk/venues. One offer: trade supply of fresh bottled cocktails, launching soon.

Cocktail on the Table

The main selling idea. The venue puts a bottle on each table with a shaker, a measure, ice and an instruction card, and guests measure, shake and pour their own. Built for arrival drinks, the toast, between courses, or instead of wine through the meal. It clears the arrival and toast bar queue without adding bar staff at peak. A 750ml bottle serves six cocktails, and at a recommended retail price of £10 per cocktail that is £60 of sales from one bottle, which beats a bottle of house wine on margin and on perceived value. Alcohol-free versions of the same recipes are available.

Other ways to use the bottles

Arrival drinks without a bar queue. A cocktail hour between ceremony and meal. By the glass at the bar. Built into function and package pricing. The venue runs it however it likes.

Trade supply, launching soon

Straight trade supply to licensed premises only. The venue buys the bottles and sells them under its own licence. This is not live yet, because wholesale registration is still going through, so venues register interest instead and we come to them first at launch. Indicative pricing: recommended retail £10 per cocktail, trade price £25 to £28 per 750ml bottle depending on volume, six cocktails per bottle. Delivery is charged separately based on distance and order size, or collection from Ayr is free. Pricing will be confirmed at launch and volume is negotiable. The main argument is labour rather than margin percentage: zero prep time, zero spec training, zero waste from half-used fresh ingredients, no skilled bartender needed to pour it, and the same taste every serve.

Section two: DIY and events

For couples, hosts and private clients. Page: https://firsttoast.co.uk/events. Three services, all with First Toast staff on site.

Cocktail on the Table, staffed

The wedding table service. Bottles delivered and set on the tables with glassware, shaker, ice and a measure. A member of our staff is present throughout to support guests, show them how to shake properly, and photograph guests shaking their own cocktails, so the couple gets a set of wedding album images most couples are never offered. Priced on numbers and bottles.

Cocktail Hour Station

A staffed station set up at your venue for the drinks reception, run two ways. Self-make: guests build and shake their own with our staff guiding them, and it becomes the entertainment. Fully served: our staff make everything and hand it over finished, which is quicker and calmer. Priced individually on numbers and hours.

Cocktail Masterclasses

Hands-on and mobile, we come to you across Ayrshire, Glasgow and central Scotland. Guests are behind the bar rather than watching. Shake, muddle, pour and taste, with games and challenges including speed rounds, blind taste tests and cocktail battles. Built for hen parties, birthdays, work nights out and group celebrations. Three tiers, all per person and all starting points: The Shake from £45 for 2 cocktails per person over 2 hours with all equipment, glassware and fresh ingredients included; The Signature from £60, the most popular, for 3 cocktails per person over 2.5 hours with a welcome cocktail on arrival; The Atelier from £75 for 4 cocktails per person over 3 hours with a welcome cocktail, a bespoke signature cocktail designed with the group on the night and printed recipe cards to take away. Minimum eight guests and a £480 minimum spend per booking. Travel included across Ayrshire and Glasgow, further afield quoted. Every group is quoted individually. Alcohol-free versions available on request. Page: https://firsttoast.co.uk/cocktail-masterclasses.

Licensing and the five week lead time

There are two cases and only one has anything attached to it. Case one, at a licensed venue: hotels, wedding venues, restaurants, golf clubs or anywhere else licensed for the sale of alcohol. That licence covers the drinks, there is nothing for the client to do and no extra notice is needed. The five week lead time does not apply. Case two, at an unlicensed space. Where we serve alcohol at premises that are not licensed, including private homes, village halls, marquees, community centres, holiday lets, offices and dry hire spaces, an occasional licence has to be applied for. First Toast Cocktails makes that application, not the client. It must be submitted at least five weeks before the event date, so bookings at unlicensed premises need at least five weeks' notice. This lead time applies to unlicensed premises only. Once a booking is confirmed we contact the client to go through the information needed for the application.

We do not sell bottles direct to the public. There is no shop, no cart and no delivery of bottles to members of the public. Everything sellable today is either trade supply to a licensed venue, or a service where First Toast staff attend the event and run the drinks. Direct public sales are planned once licensing is complete, and there is a waiting list on the home page.

How to enquire

Email cocktails@firsttoast.co.uk or use the enquiry form on the venues, events or masterclasses page. Every enquiry is answered within two working days. Weddings: six to twelve months ahead is sensible for summer Saturdays. Masterclasses and parties are often arranged within a few weeks. Trade orders will take about two weeks for a first delivery once trade supply opens.
