We bring the bar to your flat, your office or your private room. From £45 per person, minimum eight guests. City centre, West End, Southside and out to Paisley, Bothwell and East Kilbride.
Most of our Glasgow classes are in the city centre and the West End. Flats off Byres Road and Great Western Road, offices around George Square and the Broomielaw, and private rooms in Merchant City bars and hotels. The Southside is busy too, mainly houses in Shawlands, Battlefield and Pollokshields.
Outside the city boundary we cover Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire and Lanarkshire on the same terms. Paisley and Renfrew, Newton Mearns, Giffnock and Clarkston, then Bothwell, Hamilton, Motherwell, Uddingston and East Kilbride. Nothing there carries an extra charge.
We drive up from Ayr. Fifty minutes on the M77 on a good run, longer if you are starting between four and seven on a weekday. We plan for that rather than pretend it does not happen, so we usually arrive about an hour before the class starts.
Setup takes about forty minutes once we are through the door. In the city the slow part is never the setup, it is the load in. Stairs, lifts, buzzers and loading bays. Tell us the floor, whether there is a lift and where a van can sit for twenty minutes, and it stops being a problem.
We clear up completely and take everything out with us, including the rubbish. If you are in a flat with neighbours below, that matters, so we keep the late end of it quiet.
Glasgow is mostly flats and offices, and both work fine. A tenement kitchen table takes eight to ten people comfortably. A big living room takes twelve to sixteen if we set up two stations. Above that we usually suggest a hired room, because a class is a lot more fun when people are not standing shoulder to shoulder.
Offices are easy. Boardroom table, sink in the kitchen, done. We are used to building security, sign in desks and goods lifts, so give us a contact name and we will deal with it ourselves.
Hotels and private rooms in the city are the simplest of all, because the licence is already in place and there is nothing to arrange. Just get the venue to confirm in writing that they are happy for us to serve.
Same three tiers as everywhere else we work. Pick on how long you want it to run and how many drinks everyone makes.
All prices are per person and are starting points. Minimum eight guests and a £480 minimum spend per booking. Travel within Glasgow, Renfrewshire and Lanarkshire is included. Alcohol-free versions of everything are available on request.
If your class is in a hotel, a bar, a restaurant or any other licensed venue, their licence covers the drinks. Nothing for you to do and no extra notice needed. That covers most Merchant City and city centre private rooms.
If it is in a flat, an office, a serviced apartment or a dry hire space, that space is not licensed, so an occasional licence has to be applied for. We apply for it, not you. Glasgow City Licensing Board covers the city itself. Cross the boundary into Paisley, Newton Mearns, Hamilton or East Kilbride and it is that council's board instead, which is why we ask for the full address early.
Whichever board it is, the application has to be submitted at least five weeks before your event date. Please factor that in when you pick a date. Once your booking is confirmed we go through what we need with you. It is straightforward and we do it all the time.
Yes, and we do it most weekends. Two or three flights of stairs is normal for us. Tell us the floor and whether there is a lift when you enquire, so we plan the load in properly and turn up early enough to get set without you waiting around. A kitchen worktop or a decent sized table is enough space for eight to twelve people.
Numbers, a date and the Glasgow postcode is plenty to start. Tell us the floor and whether there is a lift and you will save us both a phone call. Jax comes back within two working days.
