Cocktail masterclasses in Ayrshire

We are based in Ayr, so this is home. From £45 per person, minimum eight guests, and everything from Girvan to Largs is on our doorstep.

The towns we cover from Ayr

We live and work here, so Ayrshire is not an outreach area for us. Ayr, Alloway and Prestwick are ten minutes. Troon and Irvine are twenty. Kilmarnock, Kilwinning and Stewarton are half an hour. Largs at the top and Girvan at the bottom are both inside forty five minutes.

There is no travel charge anywhere in Ayrshire, and being local means we can usually offer more flexibility on start times than a supplier coming down from the central belt.

  • Ayr, Alloway and Doonfoot
  • Prestwick and Monkton
  • Troon, Barassie and Dundonald
  • Irvine, Kilwinning and Stewarton
  • Kilmarnock, Galston and Mauchline
  • Largs, West Kilbride, Maybole and Girvan

Timing, travel and the coast road

Nothing in Ayrshire is far, but the coast road behaves differently in summer. Largs on a hot Saturday and the run through Ayr on Scottish Cup or race day at Ayr Racecourse both add time, so we leave earlier on those dates rather than cut it fine.

We arrive around forty five minutes before a class starts and set up in about forty. Most Ayrshire spaces have a driveway or a car park at the door, which makes the load in far quicker than a city job.

Because we are local, we can often do an afternoon class and an evening class on the same day, so if your group wants an earlier slot it is worth asking.

The kinds of spaces we work in here

Ayrshire is houses. Big kitchens, dining rooms, garden rooms and conservatories, and in summer we set up outside on a patio if the weather plays. Twelve to twenty people in a family house is very normal for us.

The other half is coastal lets and clubs. Holiday lets in Troon, Prestwick and along the Ayr seafront, golf clubs across the coast, and country house venues inland. Clubs and country houses are already licensed, so those bookings are the simplest ones we take.

Village halls and community centres come up a lot for bigger family celebrations. They work well, they just need the occasional licence sorted, which we handle.

  • Family houses and garden rooms
  • Holiday lets on the coast
  • Golf clubs across the Ayrshire coast
  • Country house venues inland
  • Village halls and community centres
  • Marquees in the garden

Licensing

Licensing across the three Ayrshire boards

Ayrshire is split between three licensing boards. South Ayrshire covers Ayr, Prestwick, Troon, Maybole and Girvan. East Ayrshire covers Kilmarnock, Galston, Cumnock and Stewarton. North Ayrshire covers Irvine, Kilwinning, Saltcoats, Largs and Arran. The one that matters is the one where your event is, not where you live.

At a licensed venue, a golf club, a hotel or a country house with its own licence, there is nothing for you to do and no extra notice needed.

At a house, a holiday let, a village hall or a marquee, an occasional licence has to be applied for with that board. We apply for it, not you. It has to be submitted at least five weeks before your event date, so keep that in mind when you pick a date. Once your booking is confirmed we will go through what we need for the application.

FAQ

Ayrshire masterclass questions

It makes a real difference. Everything from Girvan to Largs is inside forty five minutes of our door, so we are not rushing, we are not tired when we arrive and we can hold a date at shorter notice than we could further out. It also means we can drop kit off in the afternoon and come back for the class if that suits your day better.

Check your date

Tell us what you are planning.

Numbers, a date and the town is plenty to start. If you are in a holiday let or a hall, say so and we will flag the licence timing right away. Jax comes back within two working days.
