The venues and towns we cover
We are based in Ayr, so this is our own patch and there is no travel charge anywhere in it. The coast from Girvan up through Ayr, Prestwick, Troon and Irvine to Largs, and inland through Kilmarnock, Mauchline, Galston and Maybole.
Most Ayrshire weddings we work are one of four things. A coastal hotel or club with a view. A country house on exclusive hire. A golf club. Or a marquee in a field or a garden at home. They all need something slightly different from us, and knowing which one you are is the first question we ask.

Being local, and what that actually buys you
Nothing here is more than about forty five minutes from our door, so we are not planning a wedding around a long drive. We arrive early, we set up without rushing, and if something is missing we can go and get it, which is not true when a supplier has come from the other side of the country.
It also means we can do a site visit before the day for anything unusual, a marquee build or a house wedding in particular. That is normally a half hour that saves a lot of guessing.
Two local timing notes. The coast road slows badly on hot summer Saturdays, and race days at Ayr Racecourse tie up the town. We plan around both rather than get caught by them.
The spaces we work in here
Coastal hotels and clubs are the most common and the most straightforward. Licensed, staffed, used to weddings, and usually with a terrace we can set a station on when the weather is with us.
Country houses on exclusive hire are the ones to check. Some are licensed, some are not, and the answer changes what we need from you and when. Ask them outright.
Marquees and garden weddings are the most work and often the best day. We plan for water, power, ground conditions and the walk from the van, and we bring more staff to cover the distance. In Ayrshire we always have a wet plan, because we would rather have one and not use it.

What we do at an Ayrshire wedding.
Cocktail on the Table, staffed
Bottled cocktails set on the tables for the wedding breakfast, poured and topped up by our team. Six serves per 750ml bottle at 125ml. It photographs beautifully against a coastal window, and it keeps a drink in hand while your room is being turned around. Quoted on numbers and table count.
Cocktail Hour Station
A staffed station for the drinks reception. Self-make when the reception is the social bit of the day, fully served when you are outside for photographs. Ayrshire venues often have lawns and terraces, so we set up outdoors when the weather allows and keep an indoor plan ready.
Cocktail Masterclass
For the hen do or the night before, usually in a holiday let or at home. From £45 per person, minimum eight guests, anywhere in Ayrshire with no travel charge.
Table service and stations are quoted individually on numbers, hours and access. Masterclasses start at £45 per person with a minimum of eight guests and a £480 minimum spend. No travel charge anywhere in Ayrshire. Arran is quoted separately because of the ferry.
Licensing at an Ayrshire wedding venue
Ayrshire has three licensing boards. South Ayrshire covers Ayr, Prestwick, Troon, Maybole, Turnberry and Girvan. East Ayrshire covers Kilmarnock, Galston, Mauchline and Cumnock. North Ayrshire covers Irvine, Kilwinning, Largs and Arran. The board that matters is the one your venue sits in.
If you are marrying at a hotel, a golf club or a country house that holds its own licence, that licence covers the drinks. There is nothing for you to do and no extra notice needed.
If you are in a marquee, at home, in a village hall or at an exclusive hire venue with no licence, an occasional licence has to be applied for with that board. We apply for it, not you. It has to be submitted at least five weeks before your wedding date, so factor that in when you set the date. Once your booking is confirmed we will go through what we need for the application.
Ayrshire wedding questions
Yes, and it is worth doing. A station on a terrace looking out to Arran is the best backdrop we get. What we always agree in advance is the wet plan and the wind plan, because the Ayrshire coast can be still at two and blowing at four. We bring weights for anything light and we will call it with you on the day.
